How to Inject Peptides: Complete Step-by-Step Guide

What You Need
- Insulin syringes — 29–31 gauge, 0.5mL or 1mL (included with your Verum Health order)
- Bacteriostatic water (for reconstitution if your peptide is lyophilized/powder)
- Alcohol swabs
- Sharps container
- Your peptide vial
Step 1 — Reconstitute the Peptide (if powder form)
Some peptides come as lyophilized powder and must be reconstituted with bacteriostatic water before injection.
- Wipe the top of both the peptide vial and bacteriostatic water vial with alcohol swabs
- Draw the prescribed amount of bacteriostatic water into your syringe
- Insert needle into the peptide vial and inject water slowly down the side of the vial — do not shoot directly onto the powder
- Gently swirl — do not shake
- Let sit 5 minutes until fully dissolved
- Store reconstituted peptide in refrigerator (most are stable 4–6 weeks refrigerated)
Note: Verum Health pre-mixed injectables are ready to use — no reconstitution needed.
Step 2 — Calculate Your Dose
Your physician will specify your dose in mcg or mg. To calculate the volume to draw:
Example: 250mcg dose from a 500mcg/mL vial = 0.5mL = 50 units on an insulin syringe
Step 3 — Choose Your Injection Site
Subcutaneous (subQ) peptide injections go into fatty tissue just under the skin. Best sites:
- Abdomen — 2 inches from navel, either side (most common, easiest)
- Outer thigh — upper outer quadrant
- Upper outer arm — less common, harder to self-inject
Rotate sites with each injection to prevent lipodystrophy (fat tissue breakdown at repeated injection sites).
Step 4 — Inject
- Wash hands thoroughly
- Wipe injection site with alcohol swab — let dry 10 seconds
- Pinch a fold of skin between thumb and forefinger
- Insert needle at a 45-degree angle (or 90° if you have more body fat)
- Release the skin pinch
- Inject slowly and steadily
- Withdraw needle at the same angle
- Apply light pressure with alcohol swab — do not rub
Step 5 — Safe Disposal
- Place used needle immediately in a sharps container
- Never recap, bend, or break needles
- Never reuse syringes
- Dispose of full sharps container at a pharmacy or designated drop-off
Does It Hurt?
Subcutaneous injections with a 29–31 gauge needle are minimally painful — comparable to a small pinch. Most patients report it becomes routine within a few days. The abdomen is typically the least sensitive site.
